3. Expansion:

   The high-pressure liquid refrigerant then flows through an expansion valve or orifice tube. Here, the pressure is significantly reduced, causing the refrigerant to expand and cool.

   This process converts the refrigerant into a cold mist of gas, which is then sent to the evaporator.
